"I gotta work out. I keep saying it all the time. I keep saying I gotta start working out. It's been about two months since I've worked out. And I just don't have the time. Which uh..is odd. Because I have the time to go out to dinner. And uh..and watch tv. And get a bone density test. And uh.. try to figure out what my phone number spells in words."
-- Ellen DeGeneres
There are millions of excuses not to exercise. Too busy, too tired, too bored. None of them are valid reasons. In today's fast paced world, sometimes it can be challenging to find the time to get to the gym to workout. I am sure you have heard many people say, "There just aren't enough hours in the day." The number one excuse for not training on a regular basis is not being able to find the time. Ninety nine percent of all excuses are not valid! If you are serious about getting in shape, if it is a top priority, nothing will get in the way of you achieving your goal. If you want something bad enough, it is amazing what you will do to get it.
Number One Excuse- I don't have the time! Get up an hour earlier, or stay up an hour later. Dedicate this extra hour of time to training and achieving your fitness goals. Fact: Most people spend more time sleeping than they need to. Eight or nine hours of sleep can be great, but by no means necessary to maintain your health and let you feel good. Working out early in the morning can really make a difference in your day. You will find that you have more energy and you may find that you eat better, are in a better mood and your mind is sharper.
By working out you will have more time because you will have more energy and you will save trips to the doctors in the long run. It is a good thing and even if it is not easy it is worthwhile and you deserve to have some time for yourself.
I don't have the money! Our memberships are as low as $1.15 a day. Let's face it, we pay more for a cup of coffee. Isn't your health worth it? You will save money in the long run by staying healthy and not running up medical bills.
I just do not like to workout! This is the most valid excuse of all, in fact it is not an excuse; it is the truth. Few people like to work out, but there is good news: once you start and begin to see results, you will like it. I promise, it will become easier, especially when you start shopping and buying smaller sizes! You just need to find a workout you enjoy. We strive at Making Fitness Fun here at Ladies Fitness Zone!
I'm Tired and I'm Not Motivated! Bring a girlfriend with you for support. You will stay with the program longer if you have someone to share it with. Fatigue can actually be caused by a sedentary lifestyle. Exercise will help jump start your body. Start slowly, and over time, exercise will increase your energy level while decreasing your fatigue.
All other Excuses....There are many other excuses such as I do not feel good today, I am too tired, I need to spend more time with my family, I will do it tomorrow, next Monday, next year or for the next high school reunion. If you think exercise is a waste of time: Imagine if you said the same thing about changing the oil in your car.
Without oil changes, your car would eventually not function, the same way your body will if you don't exercise. Commit to just three days of being active and your body will thank you. In the end, it'll repay you by helping prevent illnesses like heart disease, some cancers, hypertension, and obesity. There are many good reasons to workout and you can start where you are now, do not think that you need to start with a killer program. Excuses provide an easy way to avoid exercising. The faster you work towards eliminating those excuses, the closer you'll be to living a healthier, more active life. Eventually, exercise won't be a chore - it will be the reward your body's been craving. You can do it - it all starts in your mind. Nothing can do more for your spirit and well-being than staying fit and working out regularly. |
